Selected work

Research, teaching and tools built outside the day job.

For my son

Bedtime stories

Board books built for a three-month-old, matched to what a newborn's eyes can actually resolve. Hand-drawn in SVG, narrated page by page in English and Arabic. A high-contrast zoo, the true story of our cat, and four first books for a Muslim baby.

Vanilla HTML and SVG, ElevenLabs narration, locally generated art

Six books, 78 pages, 288 narrated clips in English, Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian Arabic

Doctoral research

Visible light vitals measurement

A photodetector driven by a Raspberry Pi recovers heart rate and breathing rate from a person using visible light alone, with no contact and no wearable sensor. The work produced several publications. The related ViLDAR vehicle speed work produced my United States patent.

Raspberry Pi, photodetector hardware, signal processing

Educational platform

Wireless 101

A free bilingual platform teaching wireless communications, digital signal processing, statistics, machine learning, linear algebra and generative AI through interactive, story-style lessons.

Seven courses, in English and Arabic

580+ lessons, in each language

Developer tool

present-in-html

A Claude Code plugin that turns a topic, notes or documents into a slide deck: one HTML file that opens in any browser, presents itself and prints to PDF.

Claude Code, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Research

Cloud vs. local LLM agents for lecture slides

A preliminary study: Claude Opus, Sonnet, Haiku and a local model on a Mac Studio built the same lecture deck with the present-in-html skill. Opus and Sonnet scored 9/10, Sonnet in about half the time at a quarter to a third of the cost. The local dense model did not finish in 120 minutes.

Claude Code, Ollama, a blind LLM judge

Two subjects, one run per model, ten generated decks

Teaching

GenAI and Claude 101 crash course

A crash course written for Apple's internal audience on getting real work out of generative AI and Claude, from first prompt through building your own skills and tools.

Written and delivered internally at Apple

Writing

Notes on wireless engineering, and on building things with AI tooling.

Questions people ask

Short answers, in plain words.

What does a cellular systems engineer do?

I design how a phone's modem receives a radio signal and gets it ready to decode. At Apple I work on AGC (automatic gain control) for cellular modems. Before that, at Qualcomm, I worked on the 5G receive digital front-end and channel estimation.

What do you build with Claude?

I love creating UIs with Claude. I build tools, sites and books, mostly in Claude Code sessions, and write build logs along the way. See what I have built.
